Why Eddie Vedder's "Into the Wild" soundtrack and Jonny Greenwood's "There Will Be Blood" Soundtrack weren't up for Oscars
Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder’s lauded soundtrack for the film Into the Wild didn’t make the cut, as it was ruled ineligible because of “predominant use of songs.” Vedder was eligible for best original song for the film but was not nominated.
And in a last-minute decision by the music branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood’s score for There Will Be Blood was ruled ineligible because it is “diluted by the use of tracked themes or other pre-existing music.”If they were included, we may have been saved from those maddening songs from Enchanted.
